Quick Observation
We skied Cobra couloir and found good coverage in the feature with a generally uniform 1F pressed snowpack over 1.3m deep. Some areas of 4F snow at higher elevations. We didn't get find any failures with hand shears or hasty pits. Firm snow made for ok skiing and good boot packing. We were glad to have crampons and ice axes. Minimal windslab noted, isolated pockets of thin ~5cm slab. Winds were calm-light in the morning, and picked up as we started our descent at 1230 blowing light sluff and spindrift into the couloir. Inversion made for beautiful views in the alpine. Old debris in fans below Cobra and other fans, size 1.5-2. More recent sz 1 windslan crowns seen on extreme terrain on the East face of Mt Leroy. Widespread semi-supportive crust up to 2200m down 2-5cm with light snow on top. Ok coverage on well established skin track on the summer trail. Bad coverage above Lake Annette in Boulder Fields and fans. Moraine lane road is fully groomed and good travel.
