Quick Observation
Knee deep pow with a few early season surprises still lurking. Travel conditions below 2000m are pretty interesting, but skinable. Lower wind than we expected, snow falling at 45 degrees pretty much all day. Light wind transport only observed at ridgetop. Snowed all day. S1 mostly. Peak S2 early afternoon for around 1.5hr, back to s-1 at 1:15pm, vis improvement. Wind picked up a little at 1:30, blowing SE. We stuck to sheltered SW aspects. HS ranges from 60-95cm above 2200m. 5min test pit- Unconsolidated storm snow sitting on top of 2 light crusts. In a rare moment for the bow valley, the snowpack appears to get stronger at the bottom; the storm snow a definite F, middle layers all 1F, reaching P by about 20cm above ground.
