Quick Observation

The alpine was wind affected as usual but we managed a few good turns in a north facing alpine bowl. We found a 10cm thick windslab but other than that no other weaknesses in the upper meter of our snowpit near ridgetop. Most of the snowpack was quite hard and dense (P to K). Total snow height was 160cm. The best we fou d skiing was in sheltered trees where there was around 15cm of powder over a settled snowpack. No signs of avalanches or other instabilities. There is a suncrust on steep south and west facing terrain and a raincrust from yesterday that extends up to around ~1300m.
