Skied the trees around Black Prince this morning. Temps were around -10 at the car at 8:30 but quickly rose throughout the morning. Returned to the car around 12:30 and temps were showing around +5 degrees. Wind gusts were pretty strong around treeline.
We noticed a breakable sun crust on most solar aspects from the parking lot all the way up to treeline. Above treeline there was some evidence of windslabs, though the ones we say were only 5-6cm thick and not overly dense. Otherwise the snow was soft but very heavy, especially as it warmed up pretty quickly through the morning. The heavy snow made the skiing a bit tricky in the trees, though we didn't feel any instabilities in the snow pack where we skied.
