We had a few centimeters new snow to freshen things up in Fraser chutes today. Probing along the uptrack in the creek drainage we felt a thin raincrust from last week was now at least 10-20 cm below the surface. We set out with a windslab avalanche problem in mind. We found windslabs 50 cm deep on lee slopes (the wind has been coming from the south, so we found north and east slopes have wind deposits). Ridges are scoured and where they face south, they are glazed by recent sun. Gullies are filled in with soft snow. We found nice turns, in protected areas below 1200 m.
