Quick Observation

Traversed up to the Chimney-Chickadee Col with strong solar moistening the snow on southerly aspects. We skied down the North aspect onto the glacier finding cold, dry powder 3/4 of the way down and then wind affected snow lower down to the flats. Skiing back down into the Chickadee Valley there was a thin breakable sun crust on the chute.

Weather

-4 degrees at the parking lot and -6 at the Chimney-Chickadee Col (2700m). Wind was observed to be blowing snow in multiple directions. Wind was light with moderate gusts, multiple directions as we moved through the terrain. Strong solar on southerly aspects was moistening the snow. A breakable sun crust has developed on South/South-Westerly aspects on Boom Mountain.

Snowpack

A breakable sun crust developed today on South/South-Westerly aspects on Boom Mountain today due to strong solar effects. Keep this in mind when it is buried in the future.
