Snow conditions were: Powder. Weather conditions were: Sunny, Warm, Windy. We rode: Open trees, Steep slopes. We avoided: Sunny slopes. Riding quality was good.

Test pit , 1800m 0 deg slope, open meadow at below tree line (BTL), Height of snow (HS) 200cm Our test pits showed two layers of note in the top 100cm of the snowpack. Down 15cm the new / old snow interface hasn't had much time to settle and is producing repeated easy to moderate sudden results. Down 40 cm a thin layer of lower density snow is producing repeated moderate to hard sudden results. An extended column test showed that neither layer is likely to propogate. CTE 7 (SP) down 15 at old snow interface CTM 18 (SP) down 40 CTH 28 (SP) down 40 ECTN 15 down 40

Strong ridge top winds appeared to keep ALP and TL exposed slopes cool throughout the day. Sheltered BTL temperatures rose up to -0.3C however the snow surface remained cool and dry.

Watched patrol ski cut ( Sc ) several small ( Sz 1) loose dry avalanches near ridge top in the immediate lee.
