Hollyburn Peak

20 cm ( and counting) of fist hardness storm snow overlying 45 cm of 4 finger snow. Strong southerly winds already forming a storm slab. Low resistance shear between the 2 layers (CTE 7 down 20, resistant planar). Below top two layers are several laminated crusts. Got a CTH 27 down 140 cm sudden planar but I think that would be hard to trigger...

Stormy weather, snowing S4 and moderate to strong southerly winds. New snow is rimed and fragmented forming a storm slab rather easily. Temperature at the car had risen by 2C in 2 hours. Precip became mixed with snow pellets pinging the windshield at ~1000m.
