Explored just beyond Tim Jones peak. Trying to avoid wind loaded slopes. Dug a pit to investigate wind loading and crust at 10cm depth.
Snow conditions were: Crusty, Wind affected, Powder. Weather conditions were: Cold, Cloudy. We rode: Alpine slopes, Mellow slopes, Open trees. Riding quality was ok.
Couldn’t reach ground with 325cm probe, even after digging 150cm pit. Depth must be at least 5 meters. Dug a pit to investigate whumpf noise crossing S-SW aspect slope ~35 degrees All measurements in depth from surface. 0-10cm light snow possible wind loading 10cm icy crust. Broke apart on hand taps 25cm minor firm layer 50cm another crust Below 50cm homogenous dense snow 125cm solid hard crust
