Quick Observation
Went for a look around yesterday. Traveled up the Illecillewaet Glacier, traversed to Youngs Peak, descended the steps and out the Asulkan. The Glaciers are quite broken this year! Snow coverage on the glaciers ranged from 10-140cm. Of note the density ranged from fist to one finger, which would suggest weak bridges where they have formed. Probing off Youngs peak on the Asulkan glacier revealed a denser snow pack but the bottom 5-10cms felt like a layer of facets. I have added a bunch of photo's for reference. I have put some red circles around crevassed areas that would be worth while noting for the next storm/wind event. Stay safe out there and bring the longest probe you have! You will be happy when your looking for the best way through the ice factory!
