Quick report

Dug a quick pit outside the boundary rope at Heavenly, in the scenic viewpoint area, at 9810' on a NNW aspect. Wanted to see if the rain line had crept this high, and if the facets at the base of the snowpack had become moist as a result. HS was 67 cm, and new snow amounts were in the 8-10" range. Found the facets totally dry, with no crust capping them, unlike what I had found at 9k yesterday. This layer failed in a column test, with propagation in an ECT. The slab above is starting to become quite cohesive, with ski pen. only 10 cm, although once I was out of my skis, I punched through all the way to the ground.
