We ski basically out and back from the car. Mormon peak road was in good shape, a few patches of ice but totally drivable. There is a fairly we established skin track leading up to Carlton ridge. A lot of the rocks and stumps are covered fairly well and skiing back down to the trail head was enjoyable. Fron the ridge we dropped down to Carlton Lake. Coverage on southern aspects was a bit, mostly due to wind transport. That said the snow was good. It seemed that no one trusted the lake yet so we didn't either. At 8.1k we dug a pit on an eastern aspect in the large avy chute. We got an ECTN 8 at 50cm on the interface of a storm slab and and the slab below it. And ECTP 21 at 30cm on the interface of the two slabs below that. We skied non avalanche terrain and had a great time, best snow of the season so far.
