Quick report
- Cracking
- widespread
Widespread signs of wind loading and fracturing observed in loaded areas while traveling. I was sticking to non avalanche terrain but needed to cut underneath the wind loaded aspect to get to keep my elevation, which is where I triggered the slab from below. Luckily there was no room for it to run and I was able to avoid being caught, but this definitely a good reminder of how important line choice is, as I likely would have avoided this had I taken a less aggressive angle when cutting underneath the wind loaded aspect.
Avalanche
Wind slab triggered by skier from below. Southeast facing aspect. Leeward with obvious signs of wind loading.
