Quick report
- Went for a solo tour into the depths of desolation today for some mountain travel and post storm observations. - No signs of instability observed on tour besides some very light snow transport off the very top of dicks peak. - I probed in 3 locations all north aspect in the dicks / fontanillis zone. HS ranged from 2.5-4 meters. Mostly homogeneous strong layering. - Most notable ob was the significant amount of rime / water ice in the upper elevation zones either just under soft snow or visible on surface. Certainly the largest hazard of the day. - Also observed several large-very large avalanches that occurred sometime during our recent storm events. All had similar characteristics and aspects. Northerly facing, large crown lines, exposed rocks, wide propagation.
