Quick report

Dug in the upper elevations of the Carson Range, on the far eastern reaches of the forecast zone, outside the Fulstone gate at Heavenly. I wanted to get a final look into the snow prior to some snowfall hopefully heading our way. Found a similar structure to what has been found elsewhere on the east side of the lake, where the snow is shallower. Results were also consistent with other findings (CT 26 SC, ECTX, PST 38/100 END), and all occurred on the weak snow between 11-16 cm above the ground, which is resting on a semi-smooth bed surface. There is some interesting structure elsewhere in the snowpack, but no results occurred on any of these interfaces. Also of note was some well developed near-surface faceting, with grains up to 2 mm, and even some striations noted.
