Quick report
Surprisingly good coverage around the WA pass area! Lower elevations are notably more filled in than this time last year. Cold, dry snow at the pass level in the morning with a significant valley inversion. Notable warming throughout the day and inversion up to 6,500' approximately. Significant warming throughout the day, with roller ball activity on solar aspects and off of craggy peaks. Not much noted. On a 6,700' NE aspect noted 30-35 cm of loose, dry snow sitting on a firmer ice lens.
Weather
Cold and inverted in the morning. Calm, little wind. Warming throughout the day, with wind aloft in the alpine.
Snowpack
Cold, low density snow below 6,500' on polar aspects. Refrozen solar crust at all elevations on solar aspects. (Unfortunately) experienced an inversion around the 6,500' elevation band, which was right around where snow depth/coverage kicked up significantly. Still dry snow above 6,500' in purely shaded areas.
Avalanche
Watched a D1.5 dry loose sluff avalanche triggered by hangfire from cliffs above with warming snow on them.
