Challenging travel due to thick "trap" crust was the primary hazard. Avalanches would've been tough to find, though maybe at 7,000ft. Southerly aspects were supportive to skis but held weak, wet snow deeper under the surface.

4cm of recent snow, including a stout surface crust. The crust was barely supportive in places, but mostly breakable.

Top 100cm: an alternating series of moist weak layers and crust, getting progressively harder with depth.
Tests:
↓13cm- easy, sudden (CTE(SC)), but non-propagating results ECTN6 on 2-3mm moist polycrystals, under 2/7
↓50cm- moderate, resistant (CTM(RP)), but propagating (ECTP 21) results on moist polycrystals
