Quick report
We started skinning from the heather meadows trailhead with our first observation at 1:30 pm. We observed a broken sky, nearly overcast, without precipitation with light to moderate wind SSW. Continuing on our tour, we observed pinwheels at a 34 degree slope near grandma’s house in addition to a large brown frown forming on Herman east gully. Skinning to Austin pass we made a second observation at 3 pm. At that point skies were overcast with cloud coverage increasing; as we looked uphill, slopes were fully obscured. Rain was beginning around that time and winds picking up to sustained moderate speeds blowing SE. Depth of snowpack at Austin pass was 210 cm. We did not observe any evidence of wind slab problems throughout our tour.
