Quick report

Cracking
widespread

A natural storm slab avalanche cycle occurred this morning involving 6-10" of storm snow. In steeper wind loaded terrain, crowns up to 18" were observed by our guide team. Our snowpits confirmed the presence of facets beneath a crust buried 30 cm down (as of 9am this morning). These facets are F hard and produced unstable test results where we dug this morning (ECTP3 @ 30 cm in one pit and ECTP3 @ 35 cm in another). We did not see any avalanches on this layer today but as more of a load gets deposited on our weak upper snowpack, I would expect to see some large avalanches fail on this layer.
