Spent a great day in Five Mile with excellent snow conditions. HST was 100-150cm. Dug two snow profiles, first on a N facing slope at around 2000m. Ground cover effected any good observations so decided to dig again transitioning into the alpine and more exposed terrain at about 2200m NW. Surface hoar layer was not prevelant in either pit but we did get the bottom crust layer/facets to propagate on the second test with hard compressions (sudden planar, down 110cm). Warm snow has definitely made the skiing well supported with great dry snow on top! Lots of hazards still lurking on the mandatory tree ski into the valley though! Happy skiing/riding
