Quick report
Snow skied well at higher elevations (started down from 6500’) with close to 12” of snow over a heavier crust” that seemed to be 6” thick or more on east aspect of retirement bowl. No signs of instability here but we skied one at a time for the steeper section. Did not notice any indication of wind slabs or wind effects here. Did notice some wind effected snow on the ridge about big trees area but did not feel like wind slab and no signs of instability at higher elevations. Snow density became heavier and wetter at lower elevations in big trees area. Had roller balls as we descended the steep slope from 5400’ to Canyon Creek. Wet snow was sluffing and creating large roller balls in this steeper section so we skied one at a time here as safely as we could. On ski out is where we noticed what appeared to be wet loose slides that had already occurred in several of the Skook Chutes and one on the resort side of the Canyon. Also saw plenty of roller balls and pinwheels in both areas.
Avalanche
Observed several wet loose avalanches in Skook Chutes. At least one could have been natural as did not notice tracks. First saw one of them before noon. Also saw one on the resort side of the canyon with skier tracks next to it.
