Quick report

Quite the adventurous day just getting up Hatcher road to the parking area as the road had yet to be plowed and a truck was stuck in front of us just below the final bend to the mine parking area. We stopped at the Hatch Peak lot and shoveled out a parking space to get as far off the road as we could. Snow seemed drifted in the lot and was knee to mid quad deep. We observed classic Hatcher flat light, light winds and lighty snowing in the parking lot. Due to the flat light, recent avalanches in the creek, flagging off Hatch Pk, and more exposed rocks, we decided to just ski the road. Once we toured up and hit the pass, we were greeted by stronger winds, transporting snow, and a bit of transporting gravel/dirt to the face. Snow conditions were variable and quite grabby on the ski down. We thought we could see small crowns along the Hatch ridge but those could very well just be a cornice and stripping- flat light tricks.

Avalanche

Several new slides and cracking along the steep creek that parallels the road, near the Hatch Pk parking area. It appeared these were triggered naturally during the recent storm
