There were 10 of us standing in the same area discussing observations, boot packing. When everyone turned to continue up hill, an isolated crack formed below us with no propagation. Crack continued through group of trees below us and extended about 10 more feet. Weather: Cold (4F), mild wind, clear sky, hard packed surface. Overall impression of stability: stubborn and stable.
