Quick report

Impressive wind damage from the Holiday wind event. We encountered no avalanche concerns and only felt one collapse in a valley bottom drift.

Weather

Strong temperature inversion. Light northwest winds transported a tiny amount of snow along ridgelines early in the morning. Increasing high-thin clouds in the afternoon.

Snowpack

Soft snow is hard to find. Recent winds penetrated into forests leaving pine needle-filled crusts in typically wind-sheltered locations. Northerly and easterly-facing slopes were deeply wind-scoured. Previous slabs were eroded into dense sastrugi. Sun crusts capped southerly slopes.
