Quick report

We dialed back our decision-making today after seeing yesterday's reports of the persistent weak layer failures in the Flathead Range. We observed no signs of instability and found boot-top powder on N aspects. One short run from 6300' on S facing aspects held an egg-shell thin or non-existent sun crust that did not interfere with skiing. Weather was mild, calm winds, with a high cloud ceiling and views of GNP. The sun even made a brief appearance around 1pm. Lovely day to be in the mountains.

Avalanche

Observed several small point-release slides in the S facing Skook chutes that likely ran in yesterday's abundant sunshine.
