Red Flags Comment

While traveling around I had widespread cracking and collapsing in low angle North-Northwest facing terrain. Decided to investigate, see attached snow profile. At the elevation I was at the October rain crust did not exist and all failures were occurring on facets at the ground.

See snow pit comments.

Instability Comment

Facets at the ground were the main concern.

Did find a graupel layer mid pack that could cause some problems but could only get failure on that layer with shovel tilt test.

Saw John Haney out there and for what it's worth he said the snow sucked. That didn't stop him from putting in about 15 laps.
