This natural avalanche presumably occured during the storm or the high winds that followed it. This area gets heavily windloaded in south wind events and a cornice was starting to form above the start zone. Similar-looking but smaller avalanches were peppered along the ridge leading northeast from the summit of Knob Mountain.
