Quick report
This afternoon I traveled on Northerly slopes in the Virginia Lakes area to 10,600'. North and NE aspects held dry snow, mostly with some form of wind effect. There was some blowing snow and spindrift near and above tree line on northerly aspects where there was still dry snow available for transport. I encountered punchy wind effected snow mixed with soft surfaces in areas where wind was blowing snow around. East aspects held more transitional snow, ranging from wet surface snow in afternoon to hot pow. I saw recent roller ball activity and a small (D1) natural wet-loose in ESE facing terrain. True south facing slopes did not show any recent activity. Winds were light to moderate with strong gusts in the alpine. Skies were broken with a stray snow flurry now and then.

Warm temperatures above freezing at parking lot. Cooler temps and moderate winds with strong gusts near and above tree line. Broken skies at higher elevations with occasional very light snow flurries.
