Wetter heavy snow from previous storm cycle is supporting skis and snowmobiles. However, boots punch through and you are instantly in waist deep snow. The new dry snow overnight skied great. We stayed on slopes less than 30 degrees. A slope on the same ridgeline southeast of the pit had slid the day before on a angle of about 34 degrees.
Snowpack
- Instability Comment
-
PWL at the bottom of snowpack is scary. So much new snow is resting on the junk. While I was digging the pit, which was on a 28 degree slope, we had large collapse and shooting cracks were visable about 40-50' above the pit.
