Quick report
Skied the east faces of Red into the Dry Fork of Wolf Creek today. Great snow from the valley floor to the ridge top. We dug one pit on an east face at 7600 where the snow was 200cm deep. Of that, only the bottom 80cm consisted of pre Xmas snow. We noted some faceting around the Xmas crust, but got no results on the layer in an ECT. Two other layers were of note but neither produced propagation- a loose graupel layer 70cm down and a density break between storms about 40cm down. Generally the snow felt stable and deep. We saw a few relatively small crowns from the past few days on south faces around cliff bands only involving the most recent snow. Lots of loose drys in steeper, non solar terrain. Also saw old wet slide debris in a few gullies towards the bottom of the canyon.
