Cracking
isolated

Skinned up around the lava flow near Sparks lake around 1300 on 11/18/24. Heavy snow fall, moderate winds and the mid 20s. Dug a pit at 5,652' on the south facing aspect. The slope was approx. 35 degrees and had about 30cm of fresh snow from the afternoon/night before. Pit test revealed a CT12Q2 @ approx. 30cm, as well as a ECT15Q3 @ approx. 30cm. Skied a few lines with sloughing noted on our way down. Coverage was really good and the new snow was deep and light. Our biggest concern was the crust layer from the rain we received on the 16th & 17th. Storm slab will remain the biggest concern throughout the week.
