Had it not been for daylight when we left town, I might have been convinced it was mid-Feb out there today: -10 at the parking lot coupled with blustery north winds has us feeling comfortably in the -20s to start the day. The steady, moderate winds blew snow up slopes, down slopes, and across slopes, which made for lots of snow transport on most aspects (pic 1). We considered skiing some steep north facing lines but backed off after seeing shooting cracks on similar aspects at lower elevation, including one that propagated into a fairly thick slab (pic 2). Instead opted for nice views and hero turns down mellow alpine slopes (pic 3).
