Quick Observation

The snow was cold up high and even sunny slopes were not too bad for the first part of the day, although we could definitely feel a crust 20cm to 40cm down. Snow was cold with no crust on North aspects. There were some clouds in the morning which kept things cool but when they went away, things started changing very quickly and the snow got heavier and more reactive.

Avalanche Information

On skier almost got caught in an avalanche but was able to ski past it. We also saw a second avalanche in the backside of kokanee, which happened between our first and second lap. Suspected a remote trigger from previous skiers next to it or natural, but we couldn't see the top of the start zone from our perspective.

Incident

The second skier in a group of 2 triggered the slide from the first photo in kokanee bowl. It cracked about 20m above him and propagated across the slope. Although I saw some cracking around and bellow him, he was able to overrun the avalanche and ski out of its way.
