- Wind Loading, Poor Snowpack Structure
A weak sun peeked through above 9000 feet for part of the afternoon. The wind continued to blow gently from the south. Sastrugi was observed as well as a bit of a sun/wind crust on south and west facing slopes in the lee of the wind. Low angle wind sheltered skiing was excellent.

-
There was a consistent southwest wind from yesterday through to this afternoon. With plenty of new snow available for transport, I’ll continue to be leery of steep wind loaded slopes especially facing north that could step down to the weak layer from early season.
