Mt Wash side country

Soft sluffs could be initiated on steep unsupported terrain There is wide spread surface hoar (size 6mm) growth on all aspects and all elevations around Mt Washington up to 1500m of elevation , it is prevalent however un reactive to Compression Tests and Extended Column tests amd can be found down 35cm from the surface of the snowpack. A layer that did provide Moderate to Hard range results was found down 50cm, this layer of concern is a rounding facet layer below a rain crust. It did not provide results during extended column test.
