Quick Observation

Wind was blowing pretty hard from the west transporting snow and likely creating windslabs on east and northeast facing slopes. Cornices were relatively small in the area and the snowpack is still pretty shallow at only 1 meter deep at 2150m elevation. It was tempting to get up into the alpine bowls to get the goods, but the persistent weak layer at the bottom of the snowpack is still keeping us on our toes...patiently waiting for conditions to improve. We still found some good riding in sheltered lower angle treeline terrain.
