Went for a morning lap down Canyon Creek. The top pitch was soft but the lower SW facing pitch had a soft sun crust from the the shortest day of the year below 2250m. At 2250m found 80cm height of snow with a mostly facet base around two older crusts supportive to skis but not to foot pen. Below 2050 the snow-pack was barely supportive to skis around logs and boulders. By noon the winds had picked which built up wind slabs on the upper pitch.
In the afternoon went for a lap up Rudies South, no wind effect. In a shallow location at 2400m found 60cm height of snow with 3mm depth hoar and compression test gave moderate results (CTM10) at the base of the snowpack (sudden collapse).
