Soggy and failing
North Rockies

Field day up the Perry Creek, overcast and warm and wet. Trailhead at 1600m was right around 0 all day, valley bottom was +5. Light snow and winds from SW, overall depth of snow is 70-90 cm in the meadow. Much of the slopes are below threshold for skiing and avalanches both at this point. We didn’t see any evidence of a windslab problem, but we were getting failures in the storm snow both in a pit, and in test slopes on skis. Also had sudden collapse failures in depth hoar/facets on the ground, and multiple instances of “whumphing” while travelling. Obs limited due to poor visibility in ALP
