Soaking Wet Ashman
Northwest Inland
AvCan Northwest , Thursday 9th January, 2025 6:15PM
The freezing level was around 1300m today at Ashman Ridge. We received significant precipitation over the day, 15cm+ in the alpine falling as rain below 1300m. Skiing majorly deteriorated at 1400m. We observed widespread pinwheeling at treeline and into low alpine. This included pinwheeling across the north bowl to 1750m. In a snow profile, we observed the early-Dec crust with 5cm of facets above. This facet layer was not reactive in snow profile tests, but remains a layer of concern especially was we get more precipitation (read: load on our snowpack) overnight.
