Mountain Conditions Report

Lowering freezing levels inspired us to go investigate last nights snowfall. Once in the alpine we observed a 4F slab ranging in depths from 15-60cms depending on aspect and elevation. This buried a moist and isothermal snowpack. We didn't find any instabilities with hand shears where we were but avoided loaded areas where the storm slabs were deeper and stiffer. Strong, variable winds were blowing snow above treeline. We saw no new avalanches and skied in fairly mellow terrain due to poor visibility and variably distributed new snow.
