Fast and steep tree skiing

A sled ski mission today resulted in great turns and great sledding.(See fantail MIN) We felt confident pushing into steeper terrain and skiing in avalanche paths.
Tree line features on an east aspect had 30cm of soft sugary faceted snow that’s starting to ski fast. These conditions made for great turns after some wallowing in the skin track. At 1300m we started to see wind affected snow with a 2cm-5cm crust in places. We didn’t find any windslab or see any reactivity in the snowpack. We got to see a lot of alpine terrain and it is wind hammered to the extreme.
The day was high overcast with good visibility and an occasional blip of flat light thrown in for good measure. Temps were warm with a low of -7c and a high of -4c. The north winds picked up in the afternoon.
