A walk in the park

northrockiesfieldteam, Tuesday 2nd January, 2024 6:10PM
We enjoyed mild temperatures, light winds, and great views skiing near Powder King. The past few days of warm temperatures have created a melt freeze crust up to Tree Line where hard surface snow exists from last week's strong winds. December's weak layers, (surface hoar) are still easy to find in the upper half of the snow pack at tree line. But test results on them are fewer and harder to get. Overall the tree line snowpack was solid and well settled with a few cm of new snow. We felt comfortable skiing open Tree Line slopes with our usual safe travel practices.
