Poked around the hankin alpine today. We found a mixed bag of scoured, loaded, and sheltered slopes throughout the alpine depending on what micro terrain aspect you were on
Generally: anything east facing (slopes or micro terrain) were loaded by wind yesterday and the day before. We found some subtle signs of instability on these cross loading on these lee pockets. Some soft slabs starting to transition into something harder, with a bit of shooting cracks on kick turns(50cm-1m long)
On westerly facing micro terrain and slopes we found scoured snow with some degrading melt freeze type surface.
We skied three pitches in hankin bowl. Each time sticking to the gut (or skiers right) of the N facing chutes, to avoid the wind loaded pockets on the skiers left of each line. The north facing lines skied fast.
The crust on the cut runs seems to be softening, and with the new snow on top, skied OK.
