Sledding in the cold up Summit Creek

We sledded from Fraser over the fault line access into Summit Creek. It was cold! -30C at highway level this morning and it only warmed to -25C in the alpine this afternoon. Sledding was cold, but really nice consistent riding, except in high features where snow has been firmed up by the north wind over the past 24hrs. We covered a lot of terrain with good visibility again today and saw little sign of recent avalanche activity. One exception was a size 2.5 cornice-triggered avalanche that was 24-48hours old from ridgetop in NE terrain at the upper end of Summit Creek. This massive cornice load did not step down deep into the snowpack.
