Mount McDonnell

Went up Mount McDonnell under spectacular conditions today. We started out with a chilly morning wade across the river. Even with the low hazard we diligently tried to minimize the overhead hazard wherever possible. We gave cornices a wide berth and assessed specific terrain features for wind slab. The alpine has seen some wind affect, snow from the weekend was redistributed into variable surfaces. By afternoon solar input was making surfaces on south facing slopes moist to the alpine. We saw a lot of terrain and no new avalanches.
