Good first day out around Fraser Lake on Monday (conditions have likely already changed quite significantly since). Temperature hovering just below freezing on Monday at the road, snow wasn't moist...yet. 50 to 70 cm snow depth in the trees around 900 m elevation with typical loading zones having 1m+ while in other areas rocks are still showing at the surface. Significant wind loading on north (NE/NW) aspects due to moderate to strong south winds. Storm slab and soft slab forming rapidly. On and off snow showers with up to 5 cm accumulation. The new snow from the last 10 days is sitting on a mix bag of surface: 4 cm thick crust (faceted), depth hoar, ground. Triggered a 1.5 avalanche while ski-cutting a convex knowl - see next page for details. The persistent south flow and warm temperatures may help shape a better snowpack for the upcoming weeks!
