Upper burnt

Trapper Gilowski, Saturday 8th February, 2025 10:38PM

In the upper burnt riding area we had about 50-70cm of snow deposited on the February crust layer that is mixed with facets. In our pit we had a wind slab layer down 30cm that was reacting in moderate range (CTM11) also reacting in this range was the February facet crust layer (CTM12) with sudden collapse results. Our pit was dig on a north east facing slope at about 1500m. In our travels we noticed older slides from the last 48hrs wind slabs releasing from ridges and in the lower elevations the February crust layer was seen to be more reactive in lower elevations (tree line and below) Keep your head up as we head into March as this can be one of the most consequential months for avalanches. Have fun and play safe out there!
