Quick Observation

The day started with light rain on the way in which made for some pretty dicy roads. Once parking we noted an avalanche on the path you can see from the parking lot. Between the rain the the valley bottom and the recent avalanche we knew we would have to change our plans for the day and ride very conservatively avoiding as many open and wind exposed slopes as we could. Moving further down the trail we spotted a few more avalanches. We tip toed our way in and took a look around and called it a day after gathering some weather observations.

Avalanche Information

Several avalanches of note this is just summary of the observations

Weather

Light rain as we drive in and the freezing level was at roughly 1200m once we started riding the rain stopped and no further precipitation fell. The winds increased over the day and started transporting snow in to the NE aspects.

Snowpack

Snow depths were highly variable due to the recent wind events SW aspects are scoured in the alpine, snow in the valley bottom was moist and improved the higher we climbed in elevation.
