Quick report

Cracking
widespread

No signs of instability within the gully. Multiple snow machines, skiers, and boarders within and around the area of the slide. Saw wind stripped snow on face at the base of the gully where I was traversing - winds coming from the south west. Boot deep fresh snow. Wet and heavy at the bottom of the gully and drier on top. Fresh snow is sitting on top hard pack.

Avalanche

About 6:00 pm in Gully 1 of Thompson Pass. Convexity near base/ right below the gully. North - northwest aspect/ Approx. 2700 ft. Avalanche was about 150 ft long and wide. 6-8in at the crown. Skier triggered on a traverse. I noticed cracking at first then widespread propagation along the slope and then the release of decently sized, slab like, chunks. I continued to cut to skiers right to avoid the slide. No one was caught.
