Quick report

Overcast skies and valley fog broke in the afternoon. Temps stayed below freezing. Light NE winds. Shallow areas around vegetation had punchy layers and depth hoar. Avoided convexities and considered exposure to overhead hazards. Probed near the ridge at 5,000ft with total snow depth 210cm. About 10cm down was an easier shovel shear and 45cm down there was a knife hard crust layer. Ski quality was pretty good with the new snow over variable surfaces.
